DHS/USCG RIN: 1625-AC19 Publication ID: Fall 2016
Title: Survival Craft 2010 Authorization Act Requirements
Abstract:

The Coast Guard no longer intends to pursue a rulemaking to prohibit the approval of survival craft unless such craft "ensures that no part of an individual is immersed in water" because the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2015 (Public Law 114-120) removed the previous mandate in 46 U.S.C. 3104.  Accordingly, the Coast Guard will continue to approve survival craft meeting requirements in 46 CFR 160 and is not proposing replacement of existing survival craft at this time.
