Title: Pesticides; Technical Amendments to Data Requirements | |
Abstract:
Since updating its data requirements for the registration of conventional, microbial, and biochemical pesticides in October 2007, and for antimicrobial pesticides in May 2013, the EPA has identified the need to make a variety of revisions to improve clarity and reduce the frequency of inquiries related to several technical aspects of the data requirements identified in the regulations. The EPA does not intend for this rulemaking to include changes that would substantively revise the data requirements or increase the burden and costs associated with the existing requirements. The changes being considered do not involve requiring new data, or increasing the frequency with which the existing data are required. The EPA is considering options to consolidate introductory text, streamline the appearance of the tables and to ensure the use of consistent terminology (e.g., "test notes" and "table notes". In addition, this proposed rule will address one of the commitments in a settlement agreement reached with the American Chemistry Council that became effective on March 2, 2015. Specifically, the EPA agreed to propose a correction pertaining to the "200 ppb level" described in 40 CFR 158.2230(d) within two years and six months of the effective date of the settlement agreement. This settlement agreement is available in www.regulations.gov using the document ID number EPA-HQ-OPP-2008-0110-0139. |
