Title: Procedures for Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs: Revision of Substance Abuse Professional Credential Requirement 
Abstract:

This rulemaking would add drug and alcohol counselors certified by the National Association of Forensic Counselors (NAFC), specifically the Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDC), and Certified Additions Specialist (CFAS), to the list of credentialed professionals eligible to serve as substance abuse professionals (SAPs) under subpart O of 49 CFR part 40. The intended effect of this proposed rule is to expand the list of credentials in 49 CFR part 40.281 to include the MAC, CCDC, and CFAS certified by the NAFC as an acceptable credential to become a SAP in the Department of Transportation´s (DOT) drug and alcohol testing program.
