Title: Notification of Aircraft and Railroad Accidents and Incidents. | |
Abstract:
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) plans to revise 49 CFR parts 830, governing notification of aircraft accidents and incidents, and 840, governing notification of railroad accidents and incidents. The NTSB recently issued two revisions to 49 CFR part 830.5, which contains requirements for reporting aviation accidents and incidents. The NTSB updated part 830.5 to ensure the section contained correct contact information for the NTSB’s Response Operations Center, as well as to streamline a reporting requirement relevant to certain aviation resolution advisories.
Next, the NTSB plans to update terms and citations in parts 830 and 840, and rephrase and reorganize both parts for clarity. Some revisions to definitions in these parts may be substantive. In the interest of economy and efficiency, the NTSB has merged RIN 3147-AA12, which previously identified the NTSB's plan to revise part 840, into this RIN (AA11). The NTSB plans to issue a single NPRM revising both parts. See this RIN (AA11) for all future activities related to revising both parts. |
