View Rule

This rule would amend the Commission's regulations by implementing the authority in section 161A of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, which includes access to enhanced weapons and associated firearms background checks at power reactor facilities, at-reactor Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installations (ISFSIs), and Category I strategic special nuclear materials facilities.  One of the section 161A authorities implemented by this rulemaking is the authority to use certain weapons that would otherwise be prohibited by other State, local or other Federal laws (known as preemption authority).  This rule would also amend the physical security event notification, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements for all of the classes of facilities and activities subject to 10 CFR part 73.
