Title: Effluent Guidelines and Standards for the Dental Point Source Category 
Abstract:

The EPA finalized technology-based pretreatment standards under the Clean Water Act (CWA) for discharges of pollutants into publicly owned treatment works (POTWs) from existing and new dental practices that discharge dental amalgam into POTWs.  Dental amalgam contains mercury and other metals that have the potential to pass through or interfere with  wastewater treatment at POTWs. EPA’s pretreatment rule establishes a uniform national standard to control mercury discharges based on amalgam separators and two best management practices.
