Title: Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule | |
Abstract:
This rule will make various changes to the hazardous waste generator regulatory program to improve its clarity and effectiveness. One improvement will consolidate all of the hazardous waste generator regulations, where appropriate, in part 262 of title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Another improvement will require small and large quantity generators to include additional information on container labels to better communicate risks associated with its contents. In order to provide generators with greater flexibility in complying with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act regulations, another improvement will allow generators to maintain their regulatory status even when an episodic event will have moved them into a higher regulatory status temporarily. This improvement will allow episodic generators to follow streamlined requirements that are fully protective of human health and the environment. This rule also provides flexibility to generators by allowing consolidation of waste from very small quantity generators at large quantity generators for bulk shipments for treatment or disposal. |
