Title: ●2018-2020 Specifications and Management Measures for the Atlantic Mackerel, Squid, and Butterfish Fishery Management Plan
Abstract:

This action would establish catch levels and associated management measures for the 2018-2020 fishing years for species managed under the Atlantic Mackerel, Squid, and Butterfish Fishery Management Plan by the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council. All vessels issued an Atlantic mackerel, longfin or Illex squid, or butterfish fishing permit from the Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office would be affected by this action. The Council adopted this action in June 2017 to set quota levels for each managed species for 2018. The updated specifications for squid and butterfish integrate the results of recent stock assessments and reflect the best available science, as required by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. Because these quota levels are set for three years subject to annual review, the Council can update quotas, as necessary, while providing industry with stability for business planning purposes.
