Title: ●Alaska; Hunting and Trapping in National Preserves | |
Abstract:
This rule may propose changes to regulations applicable to National Preserves in Alaska that were promulgated in October 2015. In particular, the NPS may propose changes to regulations regarding sport hunting in national preserves in Alaska. The 2015 regulations prohibited specific sport hunting and trapping activities currently allowed under Alaska State law as part of its Intensive Management Program for predator control. The NPS will consider changes to the 2015 regulations that would enhance conservation stewardship; increase recreational hunting opportunities for all Americans; and improve the management of game species and their habitats for this generation and beyond, consistent with applicable laws. The NPS will consider changes that better align Federal and State management of wildlife by identifying shared conservation goals and objectives consistent with applicable law. |
