Title: Marine Casualty Property Damage Thresholds | |
Abstract:
The Coast Guard proposes to amend 46 CFR part 4 by increasing the property damage threshold amount for a reportable marine casualty. Similarly, we propose to amend the definition of "serious marine incident" by increasing the property damage threshold amount. The property damage threshold amounts in these regulations have not changed over the last three decades. Due to a steady rate of inflation, this has resulted in casualties being reported, as well as chemical testing being conducted, that are no longer within the intended scope of the original regulations. |
