Title: 49 CFR Part 510 Information Gathering Powers | |
Abstract:
This rulemaking would establish certification requirements for a company submitting information to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in response to a request for information in a safety defect or compliance investigation, as authorized by section 31304 of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21). This rule would update the Agency's information gathering regulation, 49 CFR part 510, to conform with the Agency's information gathering practices and modernize its provisions. The rule would incorporate requests for information in a safety defect or compliance information into the regulation, as a part of enacting the certification requirement. It would also make other changes to update or clarify the existing provisions of the regulation, which have not changed since the Agency adopted the regulation in 1980. |
