Title: Consent for Release of VA Medical Records | |
Abstract:
The Department of Veterans Affairs would reconsider its regulations requiring physical possession of a patient’s written consent form prior to releasing the patient’s confidential VA medical records to a community health care provider. VA believes that a reinterpretation of an existing, long-standing regulation may be necessary to facilitate modern requirements for the sharing of patient records with community health care providers, such as through the electronic health information exchange (eHealth Exchange). |
