Title: ●Fishing Limits in Purse Seine and Longline Fisheries, Restrictions on the Use of Fish Aggregating Devices in Purse Seine Fisheries, and Transshipment Prohibitions
Abstract:

This proposed action implements recent tropical tuna management measures adopted at the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission by the United States and other member countries in response to the current status of the stock and allocations of quota between member countries. Specifically, this proposed action would implement the adopted measures by establishing limits on fishing effort by U.S. purse seine fishing vessels, putting in place restrictions regarding fish aggregating devices for U.S. purse seine fishing vessels, establishing limits on catches of bigeye tuna by U.S. longline vessels, and prohibiting U.S. vessels used to fish for highly migratory species from transshipping catch in a particular area of high seas. The action would also remove certain reporting requirements applicable to such vessels in that area and make administrative changes to existing regulations to correct outdated cross references.
