Title: Certification and Compliance for Lighting and Electronics
Abstract:

DOE is conducting a rulemaking to revise its certification and compliance regulations applicable to certain products. Specifically, DOE is proposing changes to its reporting requirements for external power supplies, battery chargers, television sets, fluorescent lamp ballasts, metal halide lamp fixtures, various lamps, ceiling fans, ceiling fan light kits, torchieres, illuminated exit signs, traffic signal modules, and pedestrian modules to reduce reporting burden by eliminating the requirement to certify products no longer being manufactured but still being distributed in commerce. DOE is also proposing changes to the certification and reporting requirements for products with energy conservation standards that have been recently amended to reflect changes in these standards. Finally, the notice proposes various minor revisions to existing certification and compliance procedures to improve the clarity and readability of the regulatory language, and to ensure that manufacturers report certification data accurately and consistently.
