Title: ●Response to Petitions for Reconsideration of the SSP Final Rule | |
Abstract:
FRA would use this rulemaking to respond to petitions for reconsideration of the System Safety Program (SSP) final rule. FRA published the SSP final rule on August 12, 2016, as required by section 103(a) of the Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (RSIA). The SSP final rule requires commuter and intercity passenger railroads to develop and implement an SSP to improve the safety of their operations. On October 3, 2016, FRA received four petitions for reconsideration of the final rule from certain labor organizations, state and local transportation departments and authorities, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and the Vermont Agency of Transportation. |
