Title: Revision of NEA Regulations Implementing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
Abstract:

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is proposing an interim final rule to update the agency's regulation implementing the federally assisted provisions of section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (sec. 504), as well as to update the term "handicapped" to "individuals with disabilities." The NEA will replace the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) with a different standard approved by the U.S. Department of Justice. This new standard establishes that compliance with the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design (2010 Standards) will be the required means of complying with section 504 accessibility requirements for new construction and alterations. The NEA will update all relevant provisions and definitions.
