Title: ●Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Change
Abstract:

The interim rule will make a discretionary change to CRP that is required due to the conditions specified in certain state laws.  CRP assists producers in conserving and improving soil, water, and wildlife resources by converting highly erodible and other environmentally-sensitive acreage to a long-term vegetative cover.  The core scope of CRP is not changing.  FSA is revising the CRP regulations to add a limited exception so that land can be enrolled in CRP that would have otherwise been made ineligible because of the conditions specified in certain State, Tribal, or local ordinances that require the land owner to implement a certain resource conserving measure.  Land enrolled in CRP through this limited exception will be enrolled at a lower payment rate than other CRP land.  CRP is a Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) program administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
