Title: ●Updating and Improving Direct Single Family Housing (SFH) Programs
Abstract: 7 CFR 3550 sets the requirements of the direct Single Family Housing (SFH) programs. Since the reengineering and reinvention of the direct SFH program in 2003, revisions to make improvements have been limited. Through this action, the Rural Housing Service is proposing to reduce regulatory burdens in 7 CFR 3550, enhance program delivery, customer service, promote consistence with the guaranteed SFH loan program where feasible, and reflect current housing market conditions and mortgage loan practices. The expected results are increased accessibility to the programs; streamlined and clear funds and application management; improved borrower and property eligibility standards; enhanced underwriting practices and loan risk management; and more efficient and successful loan servicing and real estate-owned property management.
