Title: ●National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa Permitting Regulations | |
Abstract:
The sanctuary was designated as the Fagatele Bay National Marine Sanctuary in 1986, and in 2011 the sanctuary was expanded and underwent a name change to become the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa. The existing sanctuary protects over 13,500 square miles, including the Rose Atoll National Marine Monument. The regulations currently include a permitting system to allow certain activities in the sanctuary that would otherwise be prohibited. NOAA proposes to revise the permitting regulations and provide permitting authorization authority for the sanctuary. |
