Title: Army Cemeteries
Abstract:

On September 26, 2016, the Department of the Army published a final rule titled, Army National Military Cemeteries (81 FR 65875). After further review, it was noted that an eligibility clause for dependent children was inadvertently left out of the latest version along with clarification of eligibility of subsequently remarried spouses. Additionally, the Army owns and operates 25 post cemeteries throughout the country, the West Point Post Cemetery, and the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks Cemetery. These additional cemeteries have interment, inurnment and memorialization restrictions requiring a rule. Instead of having another separate rule covering the other Army cemeteries, the Army proposes to amend 32 CFR part 553 accordingly. Army is proposing to rename 32 CFR part 553 to "Army Cemeteries”, make the two corrections to add the eligibility clause for dependent children and clarification of eligibility of subsequently remarried spouses, and restructure the part into two subparts with a subpart A for Army National Military Cemeteries and a subpart B for Army Post Cemeteries.
