View Rule

We continue the process of updating the rule that directs State fish and wildlife agencies on how to receive funds and implement conservation projects under the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act and Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act. Under these Acts, we distribute annual apportionments to States from trust funds derived from excise tax revenues and fuel taxes. This is the third rule of an extended rulemaking process. We will continue to work with our partners to determine best approaches for this and future rulemakings, in order to consider resources and allow for active engagement in commenting. After we review and reflect on the status of the rule following the first two rulemakings, we will determine what topics remain to be addressed. The preamble will continue to thoroughly describe the approach, past rulemakings, and continued approaches. We will describe topics and progress achieved to date. We will continue to work with our partners to distribute information on participation.
