The NPS is removing special regulations for boating and commercial passenger-carrying motor vehicles found at 36 CFR 7.1 for Colonial National Historic Park. The NPS will manage these activities in the Superintendent's compendium, where appropriate, under existing regulations in 36 CFR parts 3 and 5. The NPS intends to designate areas where non-motorized vessels may be launched and retrieved. Except for designated locations, the NPS will maintain an existing prohibition on the launching and landing of vessels except in emergency situations. Maintaining this restriction is necessary to protect sensitive archeological resources.
