Title: ●Improvements to Vehicle Design Criteria for Dual-Fueled Natural Gas Vehicles Within the Light-Duty Greenhouse Gas Emissions Program | |
Abstract:
On October 15, 2012, EPA, in conjunction with NHTSA, published the final rule entitled, "2017 and Later Model Year Light-Duty Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards." Within that rule, EPA established vehicle design criteria for dual-fueled natural gas vehicles (NGVs) with respect to the calculation of average carbon-related exhaust emissions. This rule will evaluate, based on implementation of the vehicle design criteria for duel-fueled NGVs, whether the vehicle design criteria established in 2012 continue to be appropriate and whether NGVs should receive equal treatment to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). |
