DOT/NHTSA RIN: 2127-AL93 Publication ID: Fall 2018
Title: Amend FMVSS No. 141 to Allow Driver-Selectable Vehicle Sounds
Abstract:

This rulemaking would request public comment on amending the new Quiet Vehicle safety standard FMVSS No. 141, Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, to allow driver-selectable sounds. NHTSA seeks comment to modify the requirements of the safety standard so that hybrid and electric vehicles can be equipped with a suite of up to five pedestrian alert sounds from which a driver may select a preference.
