Title: ●Amendments 50A-F to the Fishery Management Plan for Reef Fish in the Gulf of Mexico
Abstract: This rule would implement several fishery management plan amendments developed by the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council, which includes representatives from the five Gulf states (Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas). The rule would delegate limited authority to Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas, to manage fishing for red snapper by the private-angling component in Federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf). The states would be required to establish a season and would be permitted to establish a bag limit, minimum size limit between 14 and 18 inches, and a maximum size limit. This rule would also apportion the private-angling annual catch limit amongst the states; establish a procedure to allow a Gulf state to request the closure of areas of Federal waters adjacent to state waters to private-angler red snapper fishing; and establish post-season quota adjustments for each of the Gulf states.
