Title: Active Duty Service for Civilian and Contractor Groups | |
Abstract:
When this rule was last published on September 29, 1989 (54 FR 39993), the rule directed the Secretary of the Air Force to determine if an established group of civilian employees or contract workers provided service to the U.S. Armed Forces in a manner considered active military service for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits. It also established policy, assigned responsibilities, prescribed application procedures for groups and individuals, and clarified the factors used to determine active duty (AD) service. The Department will be revising this rule by combining it with 32 CFR part 881, "Determination of Active Military Service and Discharge for Civilian and Contractor Groups." Part 881 is the rule that outlines the Air Force procedure for processing individual applications from Air Force personnel that want to be recognized as being a part of a recognized group. The revision of 32 CFR part 47 supports a recommendation of the DoD Regulatory Reform Task Force. |
