Title: Acquisition and Use of Criminal History Record Information by the Military Services
Abstract: This final rule with remove a DoD rule codified on June 4, 1984 (49 FR 23042) and never revised, describing guidance on the acquisition of criminal history record information for use in determining an enlistment applicant's suitability for entry and for participation in special programs that require a determination of trustworthiness. This rule is implemented via OMB Control # 0704-0007 "Police Records Check," which is used to request local criminal history to accomplish this requirement. The removal of 32 CFR part 96 supports a recommendation from the DoD Regulatory Reform Task Force.
