Title: Prohibiting Persons With Certain Criminal Convictions From Serving as Representative Payees | |
Abstract:
We propose to amend our regulations to prohibit certain persons convicted of certain crimes from serving as representative payees under the Social Security Act. We are proposing these revisions due to section 202 of the Strengthening Protections for Social Security Beneficiaries Act of 2018, which was signed into law on April 13, 2018. Section 202 requires SSA to issue regulations within 1 year of enactment. |
