Title: Regulatory Reform of Existing Standards and Regulations: Electronic Detonators
Abstract:

In accordance with Executive Order 13771, "Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs," and Executive Order 13777, "Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda," MSHA will revise existing standards and regulations to improve, make more effective or less burdensome by accommodating advances in technology, innovative techniques or less costly methods, including any requirements that could be streamlined or reduced in frequency.  MSHA’s first action will be to consider as a direct final and/or proposed rulemaking the use of electronic detonators as related to explosives and blasting in metal and nonmetal mines.  This is an ongoing effort.  MSHA continues to accept public stakeholder input on MSHA's regulatory reform efforts.
