DOE/EE RIN: 1904-AE07 Publication ID: Spring 2019
Title: Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Water-Cooled and Evaporatively-Cooled Commercial Package Air Conditioners
Abstract:

The Energy Policy and Conservation Act, as amended, requires DOE to evaluate its standards for each class of covered equipment once every six years (42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6)(C)(i)). This equipment includes small, large, and very large water-cooled and evaporatively-cooled commercial package air conditioning and heating equipment (42 U.S.C. 6311(1)(B) to (D)). If DOE determines that amended standards would result in significant additional conservation of energy and are technologically feasible and economically justified (as determined using the criteria at 42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6)(B)(ii)), DOE must publish a notice of proposed rulemaking including new proposed standards; otherwise, DOE must publish a notice regarding its determination that the standards do not need to be amended (42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6)(C)(i)).
