Title: ●Access to State-Based Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs
Abstract:

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) proposes to amend its regulations that govern participation in State prescription drug monitoring programs. This proposed rulemaking would implement the mandates of the VA MISSION of 2018 by granting VA licensed health care providers and delegates access to the national network of State-based prescription drug monitoring programs irrespective of any State law, rule, or regulation that would otherwise restrict such access. This proposed rulemaking would also broaden VA’s authority to disclose information to State-based prescription drug monitoring programs. The proposed rulemaking would promote safe and effective prescribing of controlled substances to beneficiaries of VA health care.
