Title: Fisheries Off West Coast States; West Coast Salmon Fisheries; Approving Rebuilding Plans for Two Overfished Chinook Salmon Stocks | |
Abstract:
This action will propose approval of rebuilding plans for two stocks of Pacific salmon. In 2018, NMFS determined that two stocks of Chinook salmon and three stocks of coho were overfished. The Pacific Fishery Management Council's Salmon Technical Team is developing rebuilding plans for Council consideration and the Council expects to adopt rebuilding plans for the Chinook salmon stocks in June 2019 to recommend to NMFS. The rebuilding plans approved by NMFS will be used in the development of annual management measures for ocean salmon fisheries, until NMFS determines that the overfished stocks are rebuilt. Rebuilding plans for the coho stocks will be addressed under a separate rulemaking. |
