Title: ●Magnuson-Stevens Act Provisions; Fisheries of the Northeastern United States; Omega Mesh Measurement Gauge Method for Measuring Net Mesh Size | |
Abstract:
The proposed action would amend the regulations governing how fishing net mesh size is measured in the Northeast. This change approves the use of the Omega Mesh Measurement Gauge (Omega gauge) as an acceptable method to measure net mesh size. The Omega gauge is an automated, handheld electronic device for measuring net mesh size for the purpose of enforcing minimum mesh size regulations. The Omega gauge is easier to use than the traditional wedge gauge, and should improve efficiency and safety and reduce human error. |
