We will propose additions and revisions to station-specific regulations and expand hunting and sport fishing opportunities for the 2020-21 hunting and sport fishing season. This action is part of an annual update for the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) and the National Fish Hatchery System that ensures adequate public notice of openings and changes. The Service operates hunting and sport fishing programs on refuges to implement the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act of 1997 directives to facilitate compatible priority wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities. Hatcheries are not part of the NWRS; however, by regulation (at 50 CFR part 70, National Fish Hatcheries), the administrative provisions of refuge regulations at 50 CFR parts 25 through 31 are applied to National Fish Hatchery areas. These changes and openings enhance conservation stewardship and outdoor recreation, and improve the management of game species and their habitat. Costs have been minimized through proper public notification and compliance to the legislative authority and policy.
