Title: Petition for Magnet Sets
Abstract:

On August 17, 2017, Zen Magnets, LLC  submitted a petition requesting that the Commission initiate rulemaking to adopt specific requirements for high-powered magnet sets under sections 7 and 9 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (15 U.S.C. 2056 and 2058) to address the hazard associated with these products if ingested, aspirated, or otherwise inserted into the body. The Office of the General Counsel docketed the petition and the Commission published notice requesting comments on the petition in the Federal Register on October 6, 2017. The comment period on the notice closed on December 5, 2017. Staff has reviewed the comments and is preparing a briefing package to advise the Commission on whether to grant, deny, or defer action on the petition.
