Title: Review of Vessel Speed Restrictions to Reduce the Threat of Ship Collisions With North Atlantic Right Whales
Abstract:

NOAA Fisheries is currently conducting a review of the final rule titled Vessel Speed Restrictions to Reduce the Threat of Ship Collisions with North Atlantic Right Whales, pursuant to 50 CFR 224.105. The review will culminate in a report that will assess: vessel traffic compliance with the rule, economic impacts to the maritime community, impacts to navigational safety, conservation benefits to right whales, and outreach activities conducted to date. At the conclusion of that review, NOAA Fisheries may issue a rule to adjust the current vessel speed restrictions. Such a rule may exempt vessels operating in federally maintained navigation channels from compliance with the rule.
