Title: Procedures for States and Localities to Request Indemnification | |
Abstract:
This final rule will remove from the CFR a rule last amended on November 25, 1986 (51 FR 42555), which discusses procedures for access to Federal, State, and local criminal history record information by the Department of Defense and several other agencies regarding individuals under investigation for the purpose of determining eligibility for (a) access to classified information, or (b) assignment to or retention in sensitive national security duties. This statute expired on December 31, 1989; therefore, this rule will be removed from the CFR. Statutory authority for investigatory agencies to request criminal history record information will remain unchanged. The removal of 32 CFR part 99 supports a recommendation of the DoD Regulatory Reform Task Force.
