Title: Operational Risk Assessments for Waterfront Facilities Handling Liquefied Natural Gas as Fuel and Updates to Industry Standards | |
Abstract:
The Coast Guard proposes to amend its regulations in 33 CFR part 127 for waterfront facilities handling Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The proposed rule would make the following changes: (1) Allow certain smaller waterfront LNG fuel facilities to conduct an operational risk assessment (instead of a waterway suitability assessment (WSA), (2) update the technical standards currently referenced in part 127 to reflect the most recent editions, and (3) require facilities that must complete a WSA to include information related to the nation of registry of vessels and the nationality or citizenship of officers and crew serving aboard those vessels. |
