Title: Certification and Compliance of White Goods | |
Abstract:
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is conducting a rulemaking to revise its certification and compliance regulations applicable to consumer products and industrial equipment, such as refrigerators and consumer and commercial clothes washers. Specifically, DOE is proposing changes to its reporting requirements for certain products so that they are consistent with those of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This is intended to reduce the reporting burden by enabling manufacturers to report certification data to a single agency rather than to both agencies. DOE is also proposing changes to the certification and reporting requirements for products with energy conservation standards that have been amended since the last update to the certification and compliance regulations. Finally, the notice will propose various minor revisions to existing certification and compliance procedures applicable to both consumer products and industrial equipment to improve the clarity and readability of the regulatory language, and to ensure that manufacturers report certification data accurately and consistently. |
