Title: Energy Conservation Standards for Water-Cooled and Evaporatively-Cooled Commercial Package Air Conditioners | |
Abstract:
The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended, requires the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to evaluate its standards for each class of covered equipment once every 6 years. This equipment includes small, large, and very large water-cooled and evaporatively-cooled commercial package air conditioning and heating equipment (42 U.S.C. 6311(1)(B) to (D)). If DOE determines that amended standards would result in significant additional conservation of energy and are technologically feasible and economically justified, DOE must publish a notice of proposed rulemaking; otherwise, DOE must publish a notice regarding its determination that the standards do not need to be amended. Once completed, this rulemaking will fulfill DOE’s statutory obligation to either propose amended standards for this equipment or determine that the standards do not need to be amended. |
