Title: Drinking Water: Final Action on Perchlorate
Abstract:

Pursuant to a consent decree entered by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the EPA is required to finalize a national primary drinking water regulation (NPDWR) with a maximum contaminant level goal (MCLG) for perchlorate in drinking water no later than 6/19/2020. The EPA's proposal (84 FR 30524) evaluates the feasibility and affordability of treatment technologies to remove perchlorate from drinking water and examines the costs and benefits of a Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) and alternative MCLs. The EPA also requested comment on three alterative regulatory options, including withdrawal of the agency's 2011 determination to regulate perchlorate in drinking water.
