Title: Reporting of Data for Mishandled Baggage and Wheelchairs and Scooters Transported in Aircraft Cargo Compartments II | |
Abstract:
This rulemaking would address substantial challenges in complying with the new mishandled baggage reporting rule, which changes the reporting methodology. The challenges relate to reporting mishandled baggage data in two situations: (1) where a bag belongs to a passenger who is traveling on an itinerary that contains multiple domestic flight segments operated by different carriers; and (2) where a bag is transported on a domestic segment of an international itinerary. The Department seeks to fully examine these issues and ensure that the mishandled baggage requirements enable airlines to minimize burdens while effectively achieving its consumer protection objectives. |
