Title: ●FMVSS No. 214 WorldSlD-50M Compliance Option
Abstract:

This deregulatory action proposes incorporating the WorIdSID 50th percentile male (WorldSlD-50M) anthropomorphic test device (ATD), into FMVSS No. 214, "Side impact protection," as a compliance option. A separate contemporaneous rulemaking action will incorporate WorldSlD-50M into NHTSA's ATD regulation, 49 CFR part 572. This rulemaking action will allow manufacturers the option to select the use of the WorldSlD-50M in the moving deformable barrier (MDB) and pole side impact crash tests instead of the existing ES-2re 50th percentile male ATD. This action will propose injury assessment reference values (lARVs) for use with the WorldSlD-50M in the side impact crash test requirements of FMVSS No. 214 that are comparable to the lARVs currently used with the ES-2re.
