Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Reclassification of San Clemente Island Species | |
Abstract:
We are reassessing the listing status of five San Clemente Island species. Three of these species, the San Clemente Island bush-mallow (Malacothamnus clementinus), San Clemente Island larkspur (Delphinium variegatum ssp. kinkiense), and San Clemente Island paintbrush (Castilleja grisea), are currently listed as endangered species on the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Plants. Two of these species, the San Clemente Island lotus (Acmispon dendroideus var. traskiae) and San Clemente Island Bell’s sparrow (Artemisiospiza belli clementeae) (which is listed as San Clemente sage sparrow [Amphispiza belli clementeae]), are currently listed as threatened species on the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Plants and Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife, respectively. Our status determination will be based on the best available information as of the time of publication, which means it is possible we will propose to change the status of the species from endangered to threatened, delist the species, or conclude that no change in threatened status is warranted. These species are found in California. |
