View Rule

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has initiated a proceeding to determine whether amendments to the residential clothes dryer test procedure are warranted consistent with the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended.  The rule would provide: (1) additional specification for testing "connected" clothes dryers; (2) additional specification for selecting dryness level; (3) additional detail regarding the procedures for maintaining the required heat input rate for gas clothes dryers; (4) updated estimated number of annual use cycles for clothes dryers; (5) additional detail for performing inactive and off mode power measurements; (6) specifications for the final moisture content required for testing automatic termination control dryers; (7) further direction for additional provisions within the test procedures; (8) rounding requirements for all reported values; (9) edits regarding nomenclature and to correct typographical errors; and (10) removal of obsolete sections of the test procedures, including appendix D.
