Title: 49 CFR Part 512 Confidential Business Information
Abstract: 49 CFR part 512 contains the procedures and standards by which NHTSA considers requests that information submitted to the agency be treated confidentially under 5 U.S.C. section 552(b). Due to changes to the legal standard for withholding information under section 552(b), NHTSA is considering reasonable alternatives for processing requests for confidential treatment. This rulemaking could increase efficiency and save the submitters costs for preparation of the requests and delivery of the material to NHTSA.
