Title: ●Amend Molding and Labeling Requirements for Uniform Tire Quality Grading Standard | |
Abstract:
This rulemaking would propose to delete two requirements of the Uniform Tire Quality Grading Standard (UTQGS) - the requirement to permanently mold any ratings onto sidewalls and the requirement to attach a label containing any ratings on replacement tires. NHTSA is proposing this to reduce regulatory burdens on tire manufacturers. NHTSA believes that the remaining requirement in the UTQGS to make the ratings available at tire dealerships and NHTSA’s website are more useful to consumers researching ratings for tires. |
