Title: Authority of VA Professionals to Practice Health Care | |
Abstract:
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this interim final rule with comment to authorize its health care professionals to practice their health care profession consistent with the scope of their VA employment during the National Emergency due to COVID-19, notwithstanding any conflicting State licensure, certification, or registration requirements. This rule will grant VA the authority to establish the scope of practice for health care professionals, which will standardize a health care professional’s practice in all VA medical facilities. This rulemaking will also codify VA’s current practice of allowing VA health care professionals to deliver health care services in a State other than the health care professional’s State of licensure, registration, certification, or other State requirement, thereby enhancing beneficiaries’ access to critical VA health care services. In this rule, VA also requests comments as to the appropriateness of extending this authority to include all future declared national emergencies or making the authority permanent. |
