Title: Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances (CMS-3394) | |
Abstract:
This proposed rule would implement section 2003 of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (SUPPORT Act). The SUPPORT Act requires that a Schedule II, III, IV, or V controlled substance covered under a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan or Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MA/PD) be transmitted in accordance with an electronic prescription drug program beginning January 1, 2021, including when the requirement for Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances (EPCS) should be waived, and what (if any) penalties should be imposed on prescribers who do not use EPCS. |
