Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; 12-Month Petition Finding and Proposed Listing Determination for Suwannee Alligator Snapping Turtle | |
Abstract:
We propose to list the Suwannee alligator snapping turtle (Macrochelys suwanniensis) as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. The Suwannee alligator snapping turtle is found only in the Suwannee River in Florida and Georgia. We also propose a rule issued under section 4(d) of the Act. If we finalize this rule as proposed, it would add the species to the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and extend the Act’s protections to the species. |
